Webinar on The Art of New Anchoring

The school of Media and Communication and the department of Journalism and Mass Communication organized a webinar on 24th August, titled 'The Art of New Anchoring' and the invited guest of the season was Ms Barkha Sharma. The invited guest is the alumni of SMC and currently working as a news anchor in 'India News'. This webinar was broadcasted live on various social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube and Instagram page of the school.

This webinar was centred around the news anchoring and its techniques. Ms. Barkha Sharma explained her experience about the field and about the challenges she faced in her career journey. She tried to explain the process of being a good journalist and of being a good anchor as well. She started with the discussion on the current need of the industry and what are the respective skills one should have to secure the place in this industry. In an answer to question asked by a student she explained an anchor is supposed to be knowledgeable and must be having the command over the area of his/her interest. An aspirant must have good vocabulary and mastery over the language as well. The grammar of the language must be taken care of, she added. She further explained about some challenges like sudden breaking news, technical fault which use to occur frequently while an anchor is doing a show. Ms. Sharma further shared her some experience to make the students understand. Session was ended after the answering to the queries of the students and respected guest tried to resolve the query of the students as well.

More than two hundred students registered for the webinar and participated actively.
