Induction Program for School of Business and Commerce Students

An induction program for newly admitted first year students of B.Com, B.Com Hons, BBA and M.Com was organised at Smt. Sharada Pai Auditorium by the School of Business and Commerce.

 

The five day program consisted of a series of lectures by eminent speakers, briefing of university rules and regulations by university officials and additional academic activities like quiz and management games.

 

On day one Prof Sudhendar Hanumantharao, Dean, Faculty of Management and Commerce, Manipal University Jaipur, addressed the students and explained them about the changing business practices and the challenges of modern businesses. Thereafter Prof. M.L. Vadera, Director School of Business and Commerce briefed the students about the school and motivated them for a bright future. Dr. Teena Shivnani and Dr. Suhasini Verma, HOD Commerce and BBA respectively introduced the faculty members to the students. The invited guest speaker for the day was Prof. (Dr.) Anil Mehta, former Professor and Head, Department of Business Administration, University of Rajasthan Jaipur. Dr. Mehta explained through his lecture the importance of time management. He advised the students to utilize their time judiciously and plan for things. The day ended with a business quiz and students learnt and enjoyed during the quiz.

The second day of the induction program began with an activity "Just A Minute". Students were given a topic on the spot and were asked to speak on the given topic for one minute. Thereafter Dr. Vijay Laxmi Sharma from Department of Law, informed the students about the different student clubs in the university. Officials from the Directorate of Student Welfare (DSW) briefed the students about the discipline issues, rules and regulations of the university. Dr GL Sharma, Dean Students Welfare addressed the students regarding the activities of DSW.

Dr. Santosh Patil, Deputy Director, International Collaborations MUJ, spoke about the international student exchange opportunities available for the students of MUJ. Mr. Anurag Rana, Business Relationship Manager North India ACCA, Mr. Arjun Passi, ACCA, Mr Shone Babu and Mr. Varun Sharma from ISDC explained the students about the importance and scope of ACCA.

On day third, Mr Prasanna R. Kailaje Director, Corporate Relations and Placements, addressed the students about the placement procedures and importance of employability. Dr. Sumit Srivastava from CoE explained the examination rules and grading system. Dr. Gargi and Dr. Bhwana from Department of Psychology took a session on stress management and personality development. Dr. K.S. Shivraj, Chief Librarian MUJ explained the library rules and regulations, books and online resources available at MUJ library.

Mr. Abhishek Kalla and Mr Pullock Bhattacharya from BSE Institute of Management threw light on the importance of investing and being in time with the changing market demands. Prof. N.D. Mathur, Director SHSS, motivated the students to take up the challenges of life happily and successfully. On day fourth and fifth the students were instructed to move to their respective classes and meet their teacher-guardians and the faculty members to learn about the department and respective subjects.
