The Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS) hosted its annual athletic meet, ATHLOS 2025, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the MIT Grounds, Manipal. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr. Manojkumar Nagasampige, Director of Online Education, MAHE, Manipal. The ceremony began with the march past, where all MCOPS student contingents saluted the chief guest. The inaugural ceremony commenced with an invocation song by Ms. Parvathy Madhu, followed by welcome address from Dr. Srinivas Mutalik, Principal of MCOPS. Dr. Manojkumar Nagasampige delivered the chief guest’s address. The event was attended by Dr. Usha Nayak, Vice-Principal of MCOPS, Mrs. Shanthi P, Assistant Director of Physical Education, and Dr. Vasudev R Pai, Sports Advisor – MCOPS, along with department heads and faculty members.
Dr. Nagasampige officially declared the athletic meet open, followed by the lighting of the Olympic torch, carried out by Krit Malviya and Jenfred Joy, joint secretaries of the sports council, who lit the cauldron at the end. The oath-taking ceremony was led by Shubham Manna, the sports secretary, who led the athletes in taking the oath. During the event, the chief guest presented awards to MCOPS students who excelled in INTERMAHE competitions. Yajnesh, a postgraduate student, won a silver medal in javelin and a bronze in discus throw. The 4×400 meters relay team—Janya (2nd B Pharm), Namratha (6th Pharm D), Andrea (6th Pharm D), and Vikshitha (2nd B Pharm)—secured the bronze medal. The 4×100 meters relay team comprising of Janya, Spandana, Apoorva, and Vikshitha also won a bronze medal. Additionally, Deviprasad (1st D Pharm) won bronze in the 110-meter hurdles, while Sparshith, a postgraduate student, secured gold in the discus throw. Ruthu (2nd Pharm D), who participated in South Zone table tennis, received a token of appreciation.
Vice-Principal Dr. Usha Nayak announced the results of the march past, and the chief guest presented a token of appreciation to the winners; first-year students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vasudev R Pai.
