Course Description:
Lateral Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (BSc.MLT) is 3 years undergraduate degree program for those who completed 2 /3 years diploma program in medical laboratory technology. The course includes 2 years of academics and one year compulsory internship. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical training in laboratory techniques, preparing students to work as medical laboratory technologists.
Focus:
Provides a streamlined path for MLT diploma holders to directly enter the second year (or third semester) of a bachelor's program, building on their existing knowledge and skills. This program provides the knowledge, technical skills, and hands-on experience required to perform diagnostic testing in medical laboratories. The program prepares students to work in clinical and research laboratory settings, ensuring they can handle laboratory techniques. Also makes them to perform, develop, evaluate, correlate and assure the accuracy and validity of laboratory information and understand the role of laboratory tests in patient care.
Career Prospectus:
On completion of the B.Sc. MLT, Technologists can progress to supervisory or management positions in labs and hospitals. They can also work as laboratory manager, laboratory consultant, supervisor, health care administrator, hospital outreach coordinator, educational consultant and research assistant. Additional opportunities are available in molecular diagnostics, molecular biotechnology companies, environmental health & insurance and in vitro fertilization laboratories. In industry, medical technologists are needed for positions in product development, marketing and quality assurance. Medical Laboratory Technology is one of the fastest growing professions and it offers tremendous opportunity abroad.
