Sports-Society-Industry Connect 2019

A one of a kind National Conclave, Sports-Society-Industry Connect 2019 was organized on April 18, 2019 at the dazzling Sharda Pai Auditorium by the Department of Arts (Physical Education), School of Humanities and Social Sciences. This event blossomed under the blessing and guidance of our Registrar, Dr. H Ravishankar Kamath, our Dean, Prof. Mridul Srivastava (Faculty of Arts and Law), our Director Prof. N. D. Mathur (School of Humanities and Social Sciences) and our HOD Prof. Anthony Savari Raj (Head Department of Arts).

Conceptualized by Dr. Pradeep Singh Chahar to address the crucial need for dialogue between various stake holders in the immensely popular domain of Sports, this conclave brought together eminent speakers such as Prof. Rajendra Singh, Director, SOS Physical Education, Jiwaji University, Gwalior (M.P.); Prof. Sophie Titus, Head of Department, Department of Physical Education, Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan; Prof. Rajeev Chaudhary, Head & Dean, SOS in Physical Education, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur; Mr. Prakash Bhandari, Times of India, Jaipur, Mr. Devang Kashive, Decathlon and Mr. Manish Kumar, an International Para-athlete.

The key note address for this event delivered by Prof. Rajendra Singh, focussed on how to connect sports to society and industry. He emphasised how such a conclave was unique in attempting to address pressing issues that often do not receive sufficient attention. The highlight of this National Conclave was the panel discussion moderated by our student Manan Issar. During this discussion, the diverse stakeholders not only shared their expert and experienced insights on the matter but also involved the student body in their deliberations. The discussion was very fruitful and also enlightening for the participants as well as the audience in terms of addressing the manner in which all of us have to reimagine the role of sports to the nation, industry and ourselves.
