The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Engineering (SoE), proposes to organise a one-week ICT-based Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "5G Communication" from Monday, 11th May 2026 to Friday, 15th May 2026, in association with MUJ-TEC and the HR Department, Manipal University Jaipur. This FDP will be conducted under the training framework of NITTTR Chandigarh, with Manipal University Jaipur serving as a Remote Centre.
The proposed FDP aligns with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
OBJECTIVES:
The objective of this course is to provide participants with fundamental and advanced knowledge of 5G communication systems, including standards, architecture, spectrum requirements, physical layer technologies, antenna techniques, and network virtualization. It also aims to familiarize participants with industrial applications and future wireless communication trends.
COURSE CONTENTS:
Introduction to 5G evolution, standards, spectrum allocation, physical layer technologies, massive MIMO, beamforming, millimeter-wave communication, network architecture, network slicing, NFV, semiconductor technologies, IoT integration, security issues, industrial applications, and emerging trends in beyond 5G and 6G wireless communication systems.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
After completing this course, participants will be able to understand 5G architecture and enabling technologies, analyze spectrum and deployment challenges, evaluate antenna and semiconductor technologies, explore IoT applications, and identify future directions in beyond 5G/6G communication systems for research, teaching, and industrial applications.
