As part of the AR 5102 Seminar subject, B.Arch 5th Year students of the School of Architecture and Design, Manipal University Jaipur, visited Bagru, Jaipur, for an immersive block printing workshop. Held at Titanwala museum, the visit brought 17 students face-to-face with one of Rajasthan's most cherished craft traditions.
Guided by a master craftsperson, Mr. Deepak Kumar Titanwala Master craftsman & National Award Recipient from Rajasthan, the day began with a briefing on the history and heritage of Bagru's block printing craft, followed by a live demonstration covering block selection, natural dye preparation, and print registration. Students then took to the printing tables themselves, creating their own hand-printed fabric samples under expert supervision.
The visit offered students valuable exposure to indigenous craft practices, artisan-led production processes, and the intersection of traditional techniques with contemporary design thinking.
